Rotor Film is Denmark’s leading supplier of close range aerial photography to Danish films and advertising. Due to our many years of experience in film, we are able to provide consistent quality on any type of assignment, from the biggest feature film project to the smallest specialist assignment. Rotor Film is owned and run on a daily basis by Tao Ahler, who qualified as an advertising photographer in Aarhus. Since 2001, Tao has worked on film and TV projects in Copenhagen, mainly as first assistant camera and focus puller on a wide range of feature films, TV series and advertising films but also as director of photography on a number of small commercials, short films and short features:      Rotor Film was established in 2010 and delivered its first recordings in 2011.
Most jobs require both a pilot and a camera operator. We hire freelance photographers for these jobs, all of whom have an extensive background in film or TV. We usually outsource to Ian Hansen DFF, Kristian Appel DFF, Jens Bo Freak, or Simon Mouridsen DFF
The large Dodeca drone has 12 rotors and is equipped with a MoVI M10 extended gimbal and a BlackMagic URSA Mini Pro camera with 4.6K Super35 sensor, 15 stops of dynamic range and both PL and EF mount. It records in ProRes XQ444 and RAW. And can record in up to 60 fps in full resolution RAW and up to 120 fps in 2K. The package includes five Canon EF lenses: EF-S 10-22mm, EF 24mm f/1.4L II, EF 17-40mm f/4L, EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS and EF 50mm f/1.4. When using long lenses optical stabilisation is needed, up to 105mm have been tested with excellent result. The drone can also be rigged with other types of camera such as an Arri Alexa Mini or RED, and can also be fitted with 360 degree 3D cameras like the Nokia OZO. We can also provide special rigging for special effects, etc. Maximum total weight is 25kg and, in Denmark, the drone can legally lift up to 13kg of equipment.

The hexacopter is equipped with a Panasonic Lumix GH4 MFT camera and an external Prores HQ 4:2:2 10bit 1080p recorder. The standard lenses are Olympus M. ZUIKO Digital ED 12mm f/2 and 17mm f/1.8 (equivalent to approx. 18mm and 24mm in Super35).
The small and very advanced DJI Inspire 2 quadcopter is equipped with DJIs X7 camera which has a Super35 sensor and records in ProRes XQ444 and RAW CinemaDNG, D-Log -with 14 stops of dynamic range. The following lenses is part of the kit: 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm. Despite its size the Inspire 2 delivers excellent quality footage that easily can be matched up with Alexa material.
